Porcelain Dental Veneers in Atlanta, GA

A veneer is a thin shell of ceramic or porcelain that is placed over a tooth to improve its appearance. It is bonded to the front of the tooth with a resin adhesive. A veneer can be used to correct the appearance of teeth that are chipped, cracked, or broken. A prosthodontist recommends it to correct teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped.

Porcelain dental veneers can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain dental veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. Resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less of the tooth surface prior to placement.

Benefits of Porcelain Dental Veneers

Dental veneers look like natural teeth, except better. They can cover a variety of dental issues, like chips, cracks, stains, and gaps. They also correct teeth that are misaligned or misshapen. Dental veneers are also stain-resistant, which means you won’t have to worry about discoloration.

Dental veneers are custom-made to fit your mouth and teeth. The veneers are created in a lab from porcelain. Porcelain is a hard material and resists stains better than other materials. Porcelain is also stain-resistant.

Preparation for veneers

Porcelain veneers can be applied to your teeth in two appointments. During the first appointment, our prosthodontist will prepare your teeth by shaping and measuring them. Impressions of your teeth will be made and sent to a dental lab, where your veneers will be custom-made. A temporary veneer will be placed over your teeth. Once your custom-made porcelain veneers are ready, you will return to our office. Your temporary veneers will be removed, and the custom-made porcelain veneers will be bonded to your teeth.

At Prosthodontics Atlanta, we offer a variety of dental treatments to improve the appearance of the smile. Porcelain Dental Veneers are one of the treatments preferred by patients.
